No próximo fim de semana serão as 24 Horas de Moab no Utah.
Se me perguntarem qual a prova de 24 horas que mais gostaria de fazer direi que é esta, sem nenhuma hesitação!
Cada volta tem 23 kms, como é num deserto, tem muita areia, algumas descidas são em pedra e por ser em Outubro já há muito frio, portanto a neve poderá também estar presente. Por todas estas características, esta é a rainha das provas de 24 Horas nos EUA.
Como a organização disponibiliza as classificações em tempo real na net irei ao longo do fim de semana acompanhar o decorrer da prova.
A edição deste ano irá ser especial pois, Chris Eatough (site oficial) da equipa TREK, escolheu esta prova para terminar a sua carreira como profissional."t's still hard to believe that my last race as a full time professional is right around the corner, but I'm trying to get used to the idea.
I've been totally engrossed in mountain bike racing for the last 10 years, obsessing over training, equipment, nutrition and promoting my sponsors. I have the feeling that my mind is going to stay on that path for a little while, even after my last race. It's not going to go away with the flick of a switch. I might subconsciously continue to prepare for races that don't exist!
It's not like my retirement race is a cruise in the park either. The 24 Hours of Moab has become the premier 24 Hour race in the country, and probably the world. The level of competition is higher than ever, and there will be no favors given. I wouldn't want it any other way!
I think for the most part my natural race/survival instinct will be in tact. My mind and body will fall into it's familiar rhythms of concentration and efficiency, but I'm sure there will be some moments of reflection during the 24 hour period. I know my thoughts about my racing career will always focus on the people that I have shared the fantastic experiences with. My pit crews, my competitors, my family. The thousands of miles of racing all blur together, but the nervous handshake with a rival on the start line, and the welcoming embrace of my family and friends at the finish are as clear and vivid as ever.
I must admit, I'm looking forward to a new chapter in my life, and that's why I know this is the right time for transition. Of course, I'll always be a mountain biker, and I'll still jump in a race from time to time, but they'll probably be a bit shorter than the one I'm doing next week." Chris foi a figura principal de um filme que poderei dizer que está na lista dos filmes da minha vida, 24 SOLO. Foi este filme que levou a participar na minha primeira prova de 24 Horas em 2008 em Lisboa.

Outro nível esse tipo de prova hein. Deve ser pra lá de recompensador cruzar a linha de chegada depois das 24h completas =)
Nas provas que fiz, foi. E já estou com saudades de voltar a fazer uma destas, mas não agora que é Outono por aqui... Só no próximo ano lá para a Primavera ou Verão.
